In conjunction with Sydney Science Park, Picture You in Agriculture is running our annual Careers Competition to coincide with National Agriculture Day on November 21st, 2019.
Aimee Snowden, the LEGO? farmer has created ten LEGO mini-figures to represent science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers in agriculture. The careers are:
Students may choose one of Aimee’s characters on which to base their entry or alternatively may build and photograph their own LEGO character. They are then asked to identify their interests and the subjects they excel at, research pathways they might take to achieve their agricultural dream and to write a day-in-the-life story on their chosen career.
Young people may only be 20% of the population but they are 100% of our future.
“Picture You in Agriculture believes in attracting the best and brightest young people to agriculture. We equip them with the skills needed to navigate the world, give them confidence to share their stories and support them to take on leadership positions, all while contending with the many changes life will throw at them.”
Our mission is to put young people at the centre of the learning and doing experience.
We are taking the next step to ensure young people are not just getting a seat at the table, they’re actively engaged in the conversation AND given a licence to put their ideas into action.
Working closely with experienced leaders, Picture You In Agriculture uses cross-generational mentoring to foster the knowledge, skills and teamwork mentality necessary to lead and support.
